Break-in at Y Traeth
  30-9-2008
Porthmadog FC were disheartened to arrive at Y Traeth on Saturday 27th September to find that the canteen had been broken into and most of the stock stolen or rendered unusable.

Apart from the financial loss to the club, the break-in caused a lot of hard work for the volunteers that keep the club running. The first task was to physically repair the damage at the point of entry.  The next part had to wait until police forensics had arrived and gathered the evidence that had been left behind.  This next part was to clean up broken glass and carefully and thoroughly ensure that all surfaces were cleaned, free of glass and disinfected before the facilities could be used again.

Beatles for Sale   3-09-2008
On the 16th August, Beatles for Sale played at Y Traeth Clubhouse. The lads look nothing like the Beatles when they arrived but once in character, they were excellent. One member of the audience was quoted saying “Their sound was spot on. If you closed your eyes, you could be listening to the real Beatles. They looked the part too”.

By the end of the evening everyone was up on the dance floor.  What more evidence do you need that it was an excellent evening.

Congratulations to Rose and Nigel   23-08-2008
On the 16th August, Rose and Nigel Shingler, two of Porthmadog’s hard working team, celebrated their pearl wedding anniversary. Rose organised a surprise party at Y Traeth, inviting family and friends, and while Nigel was cheering our lads at Carmarthen the scene was set. He was presented with his first pint of the evening, as he walked in the door, by good friend Enid Owen.  This proved to be just the start of an exceedingly good evening.

We would like to wish Rose and Nigel all the best for the future from everyone at CPD Porthmadog.

Brenda Edwards
8-06-2008
This evening was very pleasant evening, with Brenda’s mix of singing styles. “She is brilliant and has a great voice“ is one quote from the audience.  Y Traeth Clubhouse will be looking to have Brenda back again sometime in the future.  Keep an eye on our events page.

60s, 70s & 80s Disco success 20-04-2008

The 60s, 70s & 80s disco was a swinging success. The evening was held on the day that Porthmadog FC won their first home game and in doing so ended the season above the relegation zone to the Cymru Alliance.  The celebrations were lively with much cheering and chanting.  Some Rhyl supporters stayed on for the evening and joined in the celebrations.

Some of the Porthmadog players entertained us with their special rendition of  “I will survive”. See below.

We have picked a few photographs which give a flavour of the evening.

THANK YOU 02.03.2008

The supporters and volunteers who run Y Traeth Clubhouse would like to extend our grateful thanks to Chairman Phil Jones for his very generous donation of the two new spotlights which were used for the first time, and to great effect, at the recent John ac Alun evening. As any regular visitor to Y Traeth will know, this is just one of the many ways in which Phil helps the club, including the many hours work each week that is needed to maintain what is arguably one of the best pitches in the Welsh Premiership.

ANOTHER THANK YOU (From the Webmaster)

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the rest of our volunteers who give up their time week after week throughout the year to ensure that things run smoothly at Y Traeth and make Porthmadog F.C. the pleasant and friendly place that it is. Whilst some of this work is highly visible and therefore obvious to anyone who comes to a match or other event, it is easy to overlook all the other vital work that goes behind the scenes, so a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributes in so many different ways.
